Modern video surveillance system for the police and fire departments in the Town of Spencer

A modern video surveillance system based on SecurOS platform was installed at the fire station and police department in the Town of Spencer.

Project’s history

The Town of Spencer has grown through the years, safety and security has become more important. A constant stream of consumers and visitors are vital for the success of restaurants and local businesses, and video surveillance and video storage is an essential security tool to keep residents and visitors safe and the town thriving.

Technological advances in video surveillance and storage have created highly efficient systems with more effective image capture, analysis and storage. Police and first responders all over the world are increasingly being equipped with video cameras that can accurately and effectively allow for surveillance of key areas with the ability to retain video now often involve longer archiving periods than was once mandated.

However, some crucial infrastructure sites in the Town of Spencer such as the police department and fire department had already been equipped with video surveillance systems but these systems had outgrown both department’s needs and also failed to work.

Brief description

According to the police and fire departments’ needs, it was crucial to implement such video surveillance system that could provide as much coverage as possible with the smallest number of security cameras offered 1080p high resolution, and provided video storage for 30 to 60 days. In addition, future plans called for video surveillance of a local park and a water treatment plant.

Within SecurOS Enterprise, a new video surveillance and storage system was implemented. That system was created in order to be able to be integrated with access control systems, fire and life safety, and can be compatible with virtually any third-party security equipment.

At the fire department three Bosch DINION IP starlight (day/night) 6000i IR bullet cameras; three Bosch FLEXIDOME IP 5000i IR outdoor dome cameras; and three Bosch FLEXIDOME IP indoor dome cameras were installed.

At the police station 24 Bosch DINION IP bullet starlight and Bosch FLEXIDOME IP dome cameras that provide excellent performance with high-definition HD images were used indoors and outdoors. All cameras came equipped with built-in video analytics as a standard, which provided intelligence and helped to improve security.

The SecurOS Premium VWS solution was chosen as a basement of that project.

The SecurOS™ Premium VMS solution can manage and monitor supports projects of up to 20 servers; includes analytics such as license plate recognition that the police department is considering for the future; integrates easily with third-party systems; and can assist the fire department with future plans for a mobile and web app to monitor the IP-cameras remotely.
